Life often throws unexpected challenges our way, testing our strength and resilience. Just over a year ago, during one of my therapy sessions, my therapist shared something profound: “God said to me, ‘You will do this.’” These words resonated deeply with me, and I never could have imagined how important they would become in my life.
For six years, my therapist has been a guiding light on my journey, a journey that has taken me through grief, childhood trauma, and the complexities of divorce. Together, we explored dreams of writing a book, speaking publicly, and conducting training sessions, all while navigating the intricacies of healing. Just when I thought I had my path figured out, life took an unexpected turn. I received a cancer diagnosis.
Recently, while at work, I glanced at my computer and saw a sticky note that had become a silent yet powerful reminder: “You will do this!” In that moment, I realized my journey is far from over. Yes, I still have a tumor that needs to be removed, but I am claiming victory over cancer. I feel absolutely amazing as I return to parts of my normal routine, especially serving my clients again. Ironically, I believe this experience has made me a better counselor.
Today, I stand as a living testament to God’s ability to heal. Our experiences shape us, and I’ve faced challenges that could easily lead many to despair. Yet, I know I haven’t walked this path alone; my strength comes from the Lord. I am eternally grateful for the support from my therapist, friends, and family.
If you find yourself in a difficult time, remember: don’t give up. Lean on God, the One who can lift you and carry you through. Use your support system, and don’t hesitate to seek professional help. I proudly declare that I am a therapist, and that an incredible therapist is by my side, and that has made all the difference.
Let this be a reminder: You will do this. Whatever “this” may be, healing, overcoming obstacles, or pursuing your dreams, believe in your strength and divine support. Embrace the journey, for it is often through struggles that we find our greatest victories.
